Kitchen Rewire & FuseBox Consumer Unit Upgrades – Eldred Avenue, Brighton

Completed FuseBox consumer unit replacement in Brighton with clearly labelled kitchen and household circuits

Genuine BKA Electrical case study from Eldred Avenue, Westdene, Brighton: kitchen rewire, two different FuseBox consumer units, recessed downlights and labelled hob, extractor and oven switches.

BKA Electrical recently carried out a kitchen rewire, consumer unit upgrades and new lighting installation on Eldred Avenue in Brighton. The work brought the kitchen’s electrical installation into the new arrangement, with dedicated attention to the power connections, switching and ceiling lighting.

Eldred Avenue runs through Westdene in Brighton’s BN1 area. This local project is a practical example of BKA Electrical’s kitchen rewiring, lighting and consumer unit work in Brighton. This is a genuine local electrical project, photographed during and after the work. We have included details of the installations and the decisions a homeowner should consider when updating kitchen electrics.

Eldred Avenue Electrical Work: Project Overview

Location: Eldred Avenue, Westdene, Brighton (no house number disclosed).

Work carried out: Kitchen rewiring, FuseBox consumer unit upgrades and new kitchen ceiling lighting.

Visible finished details: Two different FuseBox consumer units, surge protection, circuit labelling, recessed downlights and labelled appliance switching for the hob, extractor and oven.

Project type: Domestic electrical upgrade, combining kitchen alterations with consumer unit work.

Rewiring the Kitchen to Suit the Electrical Layout

Kitchen electrical work is about more than positioning a few sockets. Fixed appliances, worktop outlets, isolation switches and lighting all need to be considered together, taking account of the existing installation and the way the kitchen will be used.

At the Eldred Avenue property we carried out kitchen rewiring as part of the upgrade. The finished photos show clearly identified kitchen appliance controls, including points labelled for the hob, extractor and oven. These details are important to plan before units and finishing work make changes more disruptive.

For other renovation projects we can assess whether wiring can be altered locally or whether new circuits are needed. The correct approach depends on the existing wiring, equipment requirements and inspection findings; a kitchen refurbishment does not automatically mean the whole house needs rewiring. New Kitchen Downlights on Eldred Avenue

The kitchen lighting was also updated, with recessed ceiling downlights fitted to provide a simple, even lighting arrangement. The finished kitchen photograph shows the new lights across the ceiling, illuminating the space around the main worktop and window.

Lighting positions are worth deciding early, alongside cabinetry and switches. In some kitchens, downlights work best together with separate task lighting beneath cabinets; in others a straightforward ceiling layout is enough. Our Brighton lighting installation service covers downlights, LED strips, decorative fittings and lighting for renovations.

FuseBox Consumer Unit Upgrades on Eldred Avenue

Alongside the kitchen electrical work, BKA Electrical carried out consumer unit upgrades. The photographs show two different FuseBox consumer units fitted during the project. One is pictured alongside the metering equipment, while the other has clearly labelled circuits. The photos also show surge protection devices (SPDs) and circuit protection.

A consumer unit replacement should be based on the condition and suitability of the installation, rather than the age of the enclosure alone. Circuit arrangements, earthing, testing and suitable protective devices all need to be considered as part of the work. We do not assume that an older board was dangerous simply because it has been replaced.

Appliance Switching, Sockets and the Final Details

In a kitchen, small electrical details make a real difference to daily use. The Eldred Avenue photos show labelled switching for cooking and extraction appliances. Clear identification helps occupants know which accessory controls each appliance.

Sockets, cooker connections and local isolation arrangements must suit the actual equipment and its manufacturer’s instructions. When a kitchen is being rewired, it is sensible to agree the appliance list, socket positions and switching locations before the finishing stages.

BKA Electrical also carries out socket and switch installation in Brighton, from individual replacements to new electrical points during a refurbishment.

Why Combining Kitchen Electrics and Consumer Unit Work Can Make Sense

When electrical improvements are already being planned for a kitchen, it can be a practical time to review the consumer unit and the circuits serving the room. It allows the electrical contractor to consider the whole arrangement rather than treating each new load or point in isolation.

That does not mean every kitchen requires a new consumer unit. The right recommendation follows an assessment of the existing supply, circuits and intended alterations. For larger projects involving other rooms, see our full and partial rewiring service. Our Westdene house rewire case study is another example of Brighton electrical work carried out alongside wider renovations.
